Oklahoma City Local Guitar and Music Lessons

DOES ANY OF THE FOLLOWING APPLY TO YOU?:

  • You are looking for the best guitar lessons.
  • You live in Oklahoma City or one of its surrounding areas.
  • You want to have the opportunity to learn from a highly motivated professional guitarist and musician.
  • You want to create great music and write your own songs which are highly expressive.
  • You want to learn and completely understand music theory.
  • You don't play guitar, but would like to learn music theory or how to create your own music.

Start here:

Ok so you have come this far because you want to become a great guitar player or musician. I just wanted to congratulate you on this first step, because a great deal of musicians never make it this far. You see, these are the musicians who end up not really ever doing anything with their music. I'm sure you know at least one person like this, they carry their guitar around and play a few chords or songs...but have absolutely no idea how to actually make music or truly express themselves.

I have spent many years and thousands of hours to become a highly advanced guitarist, learn about music theory, and to learn how to express myself with music. But believe it or not, I was stuck at one point. I was young as a guitar player, and I didn't know much about music theory or how music worked. I felt that it was holding me back. I really wanted to make my own music, but not just average music...highly expressive and passionate music.

I spent a few years during highschool trying finding information on guitar, music theory, and songwriting, but I could never really find a good sense of direction. I would get hung up on understanding this or that concept, and I would lose motivation, -not because I didn't like music- but because I wasn't organized, and I couldn't ask anyone for help with my problems.

Now, if I would've just had someone who could help me with my questions and who could lead me in the right direction I could have saved countless amounts of time and energy to become a better musician much faster.

This is the basis of my music lessons. I understand how YOU as a musician and guitar player want to learn fast so that you can become great with music. Let me tell you, the truth is that learning guitar, music theory, and getting better at songwriting does not have to be something you learn only at a university. It does not have to take a long time if you don't want it to. By working together, we can cover a lot of ground..FAST!

By the way, my music theory and songwriting lessons are made with guitar players in mind, so there is no need to worry about reading a lot of musical transcriptions (I primarily use TAB). My lessons are right to the point, covering the concepts clearly for you to understand, while not focusing heavily on skills you (as a guitar player) may never use such as sight reading. If you are looking to learn how to sight read, contact me and I will recommend a few books for you.

"I sing and play guitar in 2 metal bands, and in that kind of genre you tend to come across a lot of weird chords. So when it comes to writing music, whenever I've needed some help figuring out which key I was in, what type of chord I was using, or what scale would be cool to use, Ysrafel has always quickly helped me out.

...I am still surprised at how amazingly easy he makes it to understand music."

How can you learn by taking lessons with me?

My lessons are very well organized in order to make learning very fun and easy for you. I have much experience with helping others with music. I have even taught international students via correspondence over the internet (without being there in person to teach them). My lessons provide you with very high quality information on guitar, music theory, and songwriting.

I teach in a casual, yet highly productive manner. The vast majority of the lessons I teach can be organized into a binder and used at home or wherever you go.

"When I first went to take lessons with Ysrafel I didn't know how music really worked. I could play chords and techniques on guitar, but I wasn't sure how to put it all together to make my own songs. I couldn't figure out when to use certain chords, or why the songs I was making didn't sound quite right. I wanted to make my own music that sounded how I wanted it to sound.

After we had been working together for a little while, I was quickly able to make the connections and begin writing music that truly sounded good. Ysrafel gave me a very in depth understanding of things in music that I didn't even know existed. Taking lessons with him was a huge turning point for me.If we had never taken lessons together, I would never have made it to where I am today!"

"Although I've been in several bands and play piano, I've never absorbed more than a passing familiarity with music theory.  As a vocalist, however, it's important to understand what's going on in the music to be able to communicate intelligently with the rest of the band - and, of course, to compose original music...

...Whenever I have questions about how to interpret a chord or understand what's going on in a chord progression, Ysrafel is quick to help out and provides easy-to-understand explanations, and is very patient in explaining further if I don't understand the first time around."

"Ysrafel is one of those musicians who not only understands a lot about music, but goes out of his way to help others enrich their understanding of it.  It is because of this, and his wide variety of musical influences, that I have a great amount of respect for him.

...Any future music students would be lucky to have an instructor like Ysrafel... one who knows how to impart knowledge in easily grasped terms, but is not afraid to ask questions himself."
